Men are you annoyed with hearing about how flat your stomach once was and how you can barely see your feet underneath it? If so, I want to let you know that all that can change. I can show you how to get rid of your beer belly, and what's better, without giving up the beer! But let's first discuss what a beer belly really is and what causes it.

What is a beer belly? A beer belly is by definition a section of fat that has begun to live somewhere between your chest and the area you used to call your waistline. But is it cause by beer? The answer is no. Science and medicine has proven that beer bellies are actually caused by a build up in calories resulting from unhealthy eating habits and lifestyles. The stomach area is the region of the body where men have the greatest deposit of fat cells so, when the body intakes a lot of calories and doesn't burn them up throughout the day, the body send the fat to that specific area right in your stomach.

Okay, now that we've discussed where that belly comes from, (probably those mashed potatoes you like to eat) we can now discuss what you can do to get rid of it. Dementia Managing

Part of the problem in finding drugs which may be effective for dementia is that our ideas about what constitutes dementia have been undergoing radical change in recent years. It had been traditional to distinguish between Alzheimer's dementia, or senile dementia of the Alzheimer's type (SDAT) and multi-infarct dementia (MID), which is theoretically caused by small strokes which insidiously pick off brain tissue to the point where an individual's cognitive function is compromised.

It was originally thought that MID accounted for 60%+ of the dementias. Accordingly, early attempts to treat the dementias concentrated on the multi-infarct dementias. The initial hypothesis was that these multiple small strokes were being caused by a process of hardening of the arteries, sometimes called arteriosclerosis and sometimes atherosclerosis (although these terms refer to two quite different disorders) which impaired blood supply to the brain. The logical treatment, therefore, for this condition was to attempt to dilate blood vessels. This led to the use of a wide number of vasodilating drugs such as hydralazine.

It is quite rare now for such drugs to be used for this purpose. Arguably, if anything, such treatment may have made the condition somewhat worse in that a potential effect of vasodilators is the reduction of blood pressure and reducing blood pressure would mean that the brain would be less perfused with blood, as one of the functions of blood pressure in the first instance is to provide the propulsive force to send blood up against the force of gravity to perfuse the brain.

Stage 2

More recent attempts to treat the dementias have proceeded on the basis that Alzheimer's dementia is the commonest form of dementia. For many years, the term Alzheimer's dementia was reserved for dementias that came on before the age of 65 (for this reason it was also called persenile dementia), which were not obviously caused by strokes. It was conceded that there was another dementia that was like Alzheimer's dementia, which appeared to come on after the age of 65 but this was thought to be less common. Distinctions on the basis of age have now collapsed and both dementias of the Alzheimer type are now called senile dementia of the Alzheimer type. The amalgamation of these two groups led to an awareness that Alzheimer's-type dementia is the commonest form. The primary therapeutic focus in the field, therefore, has been on an attempt to reverse the deficits which are supposed to be present in SDAT.

In particular, it has been held that in Alzheimer's, there is a dysfunction of cholinergic pathways in the brain, for which there are both historical and clinical reason. Historically, when early work in psychopharmacology began, there were only four known neurotransmitters - noradrenaline, 5-HT, dopamine and acetylcholine (ACh). Noradrenaline quickly became the neurotransmitter involved in depression and mood disorders. Dopamine was known to be involved in Parkinson's disease, and, when it became clear that neuroleptics acted on it, schizophrenia, after which the psychoses in general came to be seen as disorders of dopamine neurotransmission. For the most part, 5-HT was associated with either depression or anxiety. This left ACh without a function. It seemed convenient to parcel it out to the dementias.

There was, in addition, some clinical evidence in favour of an association between the cholinergic system and dementia. Part of the reason for this claim can be seen in a number of the chapters of this blog, in which drugs with anticholinergic effects have been noted as potentially causing amnesia or confusion (see The Management of Side Effects & Side Effects of Antidepressants articles).

Stage 3

In the last 5 years, a number of other dementias have been described. A distinction has been drawn between cortical and subcortical dementias. The cortex of the brain is the area responsible for higher cognitive functions, such as speaking, reading, planning and executing actions, etc In the cortical dementias, memory is usually the function most noticeably affected but those who are affected also have problems with planning even simple functions such as dressing and they typically cannot read, draw or execute any complex tasks. Alzheimer's and MID are cortical dementias. There are also subcortical parts to the brain which are common to humans and other mammals. They involve a number of what are termed midbrain and brainstem structures.

The Doctors TV Show Rates Electronic Cigarettes

The Doctors Television show named electronic cigarettes nine in their Top ten Health Trends for 2009 giving them a particularly positive review in an all new episode recently. This is an amazing endorsement of the potential health merits of the devices.

This is a fantastic endorsement of the potential health merits of the devices. The next exciting thing I spotted was all the doctors on the TV show gave the electronic cigarettes and an electrical cigar a try. They each took many drags, with the exception of Dr Lisa Masterson who completely was faking taking a drag hardly letting her lips touch the electrical cigar.

Skeptics of the potential health benefits should also take note: Not one of the Doctors on The Doctors Television show are smokers but they did try the devices while I find that many people I chat with ( not medical professionals by any means ) are scared to even try taking a drag off one of the cartridges that contains 0 nicotine. If the doctors on The Doctors Television show did not hesitate to take some puffs then does this mean the doctors on telly show aren't nervous about electronic cigarettes inspiring their health?

Now the doctors did give an electronic cigarette to a smoker and let her try it before filming the show and then invited her into the studio audience to give her view. The smoker said that, "she would definitely recommend them.".

Eventually, the last exciting thing that stuck out in The Doctors' positive review was Dr Travis Stork informing the fans the devices aren't FDA licensed yet, but he claimed, and I quote, " I am sure they are going to be soon." Note that regular cigarettes are not FDA approved and never will be and I am always reminding folks of this fact whenever they suggest that electronic cigarettes need to be FDA authorized to be legally sold in the U.S.A.

The Doctors TV show did say a pair things that were either absolutely wrong or very misleading that may have you doubting their credibility. Firstly they said that the products were not available in the US, which is completely wrong as they are widely available.

They listed electronic cigarettes as their number nine health trend to look out for in 2009 and I'm exited to see this year shaping up quite nicely already for the e smoking community.

Do you want to eat freely and not worry about weight gain?

There are so many kinds of diets to choose from but none of them appeal to me, really. Then I came across easy diet plans, and I just love the way they work!

This is easier and more realistic. It does not require you go through strict and rigid measures as you try to lose that unnecessary weight.

Just hold on to your objective, but take it nice and easy, and you'll see real results before you know it.

1. Add good sources of protein like chicken, beef, turkey, ricotta cheese, egg whites, and fishes such as salmon, mackerel and sardines.

2. Add good fats such as coconut oil, almond butter, flaxseed oil, raw nuts and seeds, olive oil, plain and organic yogurt, among others.

3. Subtract hydrogenated oils and trans fats. Almost every cookie, cracker box and boxed food has trans fat or some partially hydrogenated oil.

4. Subtract refined sugars or high glycemic foods. They increase glucose level and put on weight.

5. Artificial sweeteners in fruit juices and other syrups are not very healthy. Keep an eye on them as well. And voila, you've created your very own easy diet plans.

As long as you understand this "add and subtract" method, you'll realize these are only some of the foods you can get by without.

Remember to take it easy with your diet and don't push yourself too hard.

There is one common question that some many people are asking these days, and that is "why did I stop losing weight?" Many people feel that they work very hard in their journey to lose their excess weight, and many of them come to the same conclusion - they simply stop seeing results.

Almost every child is fascinated by the Nutcracker ballet which is a standard during the holiday season. Often this is the first impressions of ballet, but as people get older they are better able to appreciate this form of art. This is best, because no matter how you examine your own dancing you will easily miss obvious errors in your techniques. Only someone looking from a different point of view can give you an opinion that will help you improve techniques.

One thing to keep in mind is to never expect results too quickly when working on ballet techniques, because it takes time for muscles to build up memory and also to correct techniques being done wrong. You should take your time when studying and allow your body the time it needs to adjust to any new positions. This way, you will learn correctly and improve skills.

You will have to commit yourself completely if you want to progress with ballet dancing. Only if you invest all you have into stretching yourself will you be able to make any improvements. It will be necessary to give more than you normally do and be fully committed to your dancing.

It is possible that you fell in love with ballet dancing as a child, but working on it will be a long term commitment. There are always ways available to improve your dancing, but if you are not entirely committed to it then you are destined to never reach your full potential. Once you work on refining the basics and giving all you have to studying ballet will you finally be on the way to reaching excellence.

But still; imagine always worrying about your breath, even when it's actually not that bad. Because our bodies filter out our own odors, it can be nearly impossible to always know exactly how fresh we are. The fear never really leaves you.

The reasons that some people suffer from bad breath while others don't is a bit complex for this article, but let's just say that everyone's mouth is slightly different, especially when it comes to the tongue. The tongue is the main culprit in allowing the bacteria that cause bad breath to flourish.

You might think that all you have to do to cure bad breath is to get a tongue scraper, but that's just not how it is. While a tongue scraper is not necesarilly a bad idea, it can actually make the problem worse if you don't attack the root cause of bad breath.

Another exercise involves using your fingers to press your jaw on each side. Apply the same amount of pressure on both sides. Open your jaw slowly while not letting it click. Should your jaw click, release this position then start all over again, opening your mouth more slowly this time.

There are still many TMJ exercises that you can do for a few minutes each day in any place which you find comfortable. You can ask your doctor about these TMJ exercises and they can also show you how to properly perform them. You might need to do some of the exercises at least twice a day to have the best results, while there are also some that you can perform when needed.

"It's nice to see that it shows that, that the closer humans are to the natural environment, that seems to have a healthy influence," said Dr. David Rakel, director of integrative medicine and assistant professor of family medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

One previous study had noted fewer health inequalities between rich and poor people in areas with lots of green space, and other studies have echoed these health benefits. But much of this research had relied on people's perceptions of their physical and mental health.

This new objective look at the matter involved scouring medical records of 345,143 people in Holland, assessing health status for 24 conditions, including cardiovascular, respiratory and neurological diseases. This information was then correlated with how much green space was located within 1 kilometer and 3 kilometers of a person's postal code.

People living in more urban environments had a higher prevalence of 15 of the 24 conditions, with the relationship strongest for anxiety disorder and depression.

In areas with only 10 percent of green space, about 2.6 percent of people experienced anxiety disorders, compared to 1.8 percent of people in areas with 90 percent green space. The disparity was evident for depression as well - 3.2 percent of people living in more urbanized areas had depression versus 2.4 percent of those in more rural areas.

The health benefits were evident only when the green acres were within a kilometer, not at the 3 kilometer perimeter, except for anxiety disorders, gastrointestinal digestive disorders and so-called medically unexplained physical symptoms, the researchers said.

Children and poor people suffered disproportionately from lack of green acres, the researchers found.

The study findings were published online Thursday in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.

Any number of factors could account for the benefits of green space, experts said.

More natural sunlight, for instance, has been linked with a lower incidence of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and other benefits.

"If patients in hospitals have direct exposure to sunlight through a window or natural sunlight, hospital stays are shorter and patients have less complications," Rakel said. "That's been well-established.

More light also means more vitamin D in the skin, which has been found to elevate mood and improve muscle strength, he added.

And fresh air, obviously, has a benefit as well, as do the exercise opportunities that come with more open space.

But much of the relief may come from the simple ability to de-stress.

"If we're in a busy street with more technology and artificial things, we're going to be multi-tasking more, which prevents us from focusing on one thing," Rakel said. "In this day and age, we really need some sort of centering practice. We need to get our mind out of its own stories and focus on something that's pure. Nature is a beautiful example of that - it's the way things were meant to be.

Whenever I break off a relationship I go into a "they don't exist anymore" mode for a while. This gives me the time I need to cry, eat chocolate and gain weight, lose that weight, cry some more and curse them to hell and back. I know this routine isn't perfect, and it isn't for everyone. What can I say, it works for me. I get plenty of time to overcome any "I want him back" feelings because there is always a good reason why I end a relationship. I don't give up without a fight, but once the fight's been fought, I'm done.

This doesn't work for everyone. During the ignoring and grieving time, some people come to the realization that what they really want is their partner back! This can be a tricky proposition, and you have to realize that sometimes it's going to be impossible.

You need to figure out why you want him or her back

Those "I want him/her back" feelings? They can be so difficult to deal with. Besides doing number on your heart, they'll also do a number on your head. You'll come up with a ton of excuses about the problems you were experiencing that led to your breakup. You need to figure out your reason(s) for wanting him back, and you need to be brutally honest when doing so. Loneliness and sadness are not good enough reasons to try reconciliation. It's always a possibility and depending on what the circumstances are, it might even be the most likely possibility. If that happens, try to stay composed. Among the elderly, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is present in 24% of people who live independently, 33% of those in acute care institutions, and 42% who are in nursing homes. In older people the consequences differ and can include ischemic heart disease, various arrhythmias, stroke, erectile dysfunction, permanent systemic or pulmonary hypertension, dementia, and depression. Death can occur prematurely.

Sample Recipes to Use with HCG

One of the top requests for potential HCG candidates is that we provide them with a couple sample recipes. So in response to the many requests we're going to do just that. We understand the importance of the recipe book. That's why we created it and that's why we urge every dieter to take full advantage of the variety it offers. Limited food intake doesn't have to mean "yucky" food intake. We absolutely understand that dieters want to make the food they DO get to eat...good!

Try the HCG approved Chicken Marinara recipe:

Ingredients:
100 grams of chicken
1 small tomato, diced
2-3 cloves of garlic
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp basil
1/2 tsp chili powder
A Dash of garlic powder
A Dash of pepper

Simple directions:
Oven should be preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place half of the tomatoes at the bottom of the casserole dish followed by the chicken after it has been seared for a couple minutes on each side with the benefit of garlic powder, salt and pepper. When you add the chicken to the casserole dish also add the garlic (minced). In a separate, small bowl you should toss the remaining tomatoes with the oregano, basil and chili powder. Place the tossed ingredients over the chicken in the casserole. Cover the casserole dish and cook it for 50 to 60 minutes. Serve it warm and enjoy!

Sample Recipe #2: Turkey and Tomato Soup

You'll need:
turkey (approx. 100 grams...already cooked)
canned tomatoes (stewed or crushed-get organic if possible)
garlic (crushed, 3 cloves)
red wine vinegar (2 tsp)
Just a pinch of the following seasonings: red pepper flakes, rosemary, basil, cumin, parsley

Follow the directions:
Put tomatoes and all the seasonings in a pot and cook it on medium heat for about 5 minutes. Add the turkey and increase the heat to bring the soup to a boil. Keep it heating for another 8 minutes or so and then let it cool slightly before serving.

Trying out 2 recipes might not give you an all inclusive idea of what to expect on the program, but it will give you an idea of what's possible. And what's possible is that you can eat healthy and still enjoy what you're eating. The HCG program is a weight loss program so fudge and cheesecake aren't on the menu...but you'll be surprised at how much you like what is on the menu!

This herb stops the release of dopamine and thus the cigarettes that one smokes while using the herb lose their attractiveness and do not make a person feel the pleasure that was once experienced. Sure it is great that you want to workout and build muscle up but at the same time one bad injury, one forgetful moment can put you out of action for months and with possible health and financial consequences.

Many of the traumatic incidents you see in a gym can be avoided by taking the proper precautions. We recommend following the guidelines we've listed below so you can build muscle safely.

1) Always check and double check you have put the barbell collars on before you start lifting. One side can be made heavier by just a slight looseness of a collar. The heavier side will drop down and the weight disc can slip further and drop off. The heavy side will now force up the light side. The barbell will then swing through the air and could do some real damage to people or equipment!

2) If you are trying to max out make sure that you use a spotter to help you. Something that has been known to happen when trying to max out your weight is someone not being able to get the weight up, with it coming down on you causing serious injury.

3) Steer clear of the gym if you are sick. Seems too obvious but I regularly see people who are clearly suffering from a high fever and cough splutter, there way through a training session. Most commonly during that session the person achieves no personal bests and puts them self out of action for a few days. Exercising actually for a while at least lowers your immune system so if you are already feeling ill then by exercising you give the illness the ideal opportunity to take a bigger hold of you.

4) Ensure correct technique is always used. If you do exercises with poor form like swinging barbells using bodily momentum then you risk serious injury but and will also not make much progress due to that fact that you won't be targeting the muscle group specifically enough. Use strict form all the time.

5) Oh, and don't overdue it. If you're new, your first reaction is the lift as often as possible. Even though this is good, most of the time this will be too much for the individual. The end result is you will weaken your muscles, especially if they haven't fully recovered.

6) Utilize the right diet. While working out is a big piece of the puzzle, there are other aspects that make everything happen. When you have the right eating habits, your body will absorb the nutrients. However, if you head to McDonald's then your body will absorb all kinds of bad elements. In order to support muscle growth you want to eat more and high quality nutritional meals.

7) Showing off. Lifting too much weight and competing with friends can be great motivation but also can be a recipe for disaster. It is much more productive to try to beat your own personal best scores. write down your workout scores in a training log so that you know what scores you have to beat for your next workout. This will be more motivating for you and reduce your risk of injury.

8) Take the time to warm-up. Listen, we all get older and what you did 10 years ago probably isn't going to work today. So it's very important to warm-up your body and stretch those muscles. Think of it like your car in the dead of winter. You obviously want to let the car warm-up before taking it for a drive. The same approach applies here.

As you can see there are many different things that you need to take into consideration when training the right way. Make sure that you get good nutrition, stay focused, do not show off, and stretch before your workout, and you will be on your way to building muscle safely.

Thoughts On Telepathy

Sure you may have heard about telepathy before, but do you know the meaning of the word? The easiest way to explain it is when you experience "feelings over a distance." Simply put, it is when someone takes their emotions and transmits it to another without using any actions like hearing, touching, sight, words, or anything else.

Most people believe this to be a type of communication that is well above every other type. Even scientists and animal trainers have done extensive research and found that animals are able to do this from very far distances. Keep in mind this isn't some small study, it's actually to a point where they believe this beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Many years ago it was believed that primitive tribes possessed the power of telepathy, and anthropologists still believe it today.

What you need to understand is that telepathy isn't some sort of crazy aberration. Instead, it's something that we should recognize just as we would when coming across a person with speech issues. While we classify this as a disability, it should be the same scenario for someone who cannot utilize their telepathic power. Unfortunately it's not, but hopefully in the near future it will be.

One thing to understand is that most of our societies over many thousands of years have simply lost their telepathic powers. We now see it as being natural to only use speech, and the common five senses, but it was not always like that.

When you hear people talk about the "sixth sense," they are often referring to things such as telepathy. Others may call it the "third eye," although there are subtle differences in these two phrases they mean basically the same.

You may not even realize the times that this happens to you, but everyone has telepathy as a tool. The only problem is most people don't know how to use it. Oddly enough we experience it all the time and call it instinct instead. Maybe you're driving home from work and just have a bad feeling about something at home, and then when you get there a problem arises. These are considered "gut feelings" and while many people accept this as an answer, they don't realize that it has to do with telepathy. The most common instance you will hear is the connection between a mother and child.

What you'll find is that our society has simply lost touch with the ability to utilize our telepathic power. How this began will probably never be answered, but it's believed that it was constantly down played by religions all over the world. Most predominantly were Christianity and Islam. They believe that this is the power of Satan and not a tool the human mind already has inside.

If you or someone you know are set in their religious ways, you've probably been told not to put any sort of faith in telepathy. This is so you reflect this power to only be utilized by the Messiah, Savior, Prophet, or any other name you use for the almighty.

Do you ever wonder why this is so? A lot of it has to do with the powerful leaders of each religion. While we will say that there are true religious leaders, there are some out there that don't want anyone else to have the power. Think of it as someone challenging you in your workplace. Do you want to acknowledge that they know more than you do? Of course not, which is why some religious officials do the same thing.

Everyone deals with different religions, but if they're not pushing down telepathy, scientists who are narrow minded are the next in line. They believe that telepathy cannot be numerically measured to get enough serious consideration. They also exclaim that it can't be tasted, or even touched. Keep in mind there are several scientists who believe in the telepathy powers, but they are few and far between.

It's a big dilemma considering scientists have no problem accepting emotions and instincts. Are these individuals being prejudice? It's possible, but since scientists can feel emotions and instincts themselves, they consider this okay. When it comes to telepathy though, there is a lot left to be explained, so they don't acknowledge it.

Some believe it could be that the scientists who oppose telepathy are simply jealous. After all, it doesn't seem fair that someone could do something like this, which is why they don't want anyone else to have them. So instead of branding something different, it is always considered an instinctive response.

We many never find out the true reason why humanity lost touch, but it could date back as far as the story around the Tower of Babylon. Seeing how this was the time when languages were to confuse people, it's possible that the language of telepathy disappeared.

Because if you're used to coffee in a cardboard cup that doesn't taste particularly great, it's pretty amazing not just to taste genuinely coffee, but to actually change the pace of your life, even if it's just for a vacation.

And there's just something more relaxing about the time to sit and talk for awhile. Even though that culture might not exist in your home country, or perhaps the pace of work is threatening it, but it's an important relic of a time where life was about more than just work, even when everyone was working. And work might actually save the caf? lifestyle. Because now, if you have a laptop, you pretty much have an excuse to sit as long as you like, in a public place, under the guise of work.

But wherever you are in the world, get to know a little bit more about the city you're visiting by heading over to a well-worn looking spot. It might have waiters in bow ties, it might have beat-up looking wooden tables, but all that matters is it has a nice view of the street, and a few customers. You now have the best seat in the whole city to learning how things work. Just don't rush off now, you hear?

Where did Yoga Originate?

Yoga is an age old spiritual and physical activity enjoyed by millions throughout the world. Yoga came to light particularly in the East, and over time it made its way to the West. Although the growth of Yoga has been a long journey with many influences, the story of Yoga can be followed by understanding the three periods from which it originated. These periods are known as: The Classical Period, The Post-Classical Period and Modern Period. Each period has its story, and its own unique additions to the practices of Yoga among cultures.

Classical

During the second century, someone by the name of Patanjali, the compiler of the Yoga Sutras, an important collection of Yoga practice. In traditional Hindu, Yoga is at the epicenter of metaphysics and meditation. It is in these practices that one focuses more on the mind, body and soul rather than an individual to help heal or comfort them.. He also came up with the eight limbed path that uses different words for different areas of concentration: YAMA is conduct toward others, moral observances or social discipline, NIYAMA is conduct toward the Self, individual discipline or restraints, ASANA means posture, DHYANA is Meditation, and SAMADHI is Self-Realization. It makes sense that the physical aspects of Yoga are totally in tune with the ideologies of a more Buddhist frame of mind.

Post-Classical Period

This period Yoga was going through changes where it was being practiced and even altered in some ways. It paved the way for its use in United States and even became a different type of lifestyle for some. At this point it had become more of a purification of your system and a way to get in touch with your more spiritual side. Its concentration was more on the mental part of life rather than the physical existence in this world. It gave people a chance to really get to know themselves through meditation and relaxation techniques to relieve stress.

Modern Period

This is the period when Yoga became fun in the West, although still practiced with total respect in the East. It was not until the 1960-1970's that Yoga really became a popular activity, especially during the "hippie" movement. People at that time did not care much about conventional ways and accepted it for its spiritual benefits. It became even more of a West Coast trend once it hit the United States and gave way to the "healthier" lifestyle people try to achieve.

Yoga means different things to different people. To some, it is just an exercise they do to trim off a few pounds. To others it is a way of life and never ending happiness into an enlightened state. There are "rules" to be followed and certain ways to live by. Whether you choose it for one purpose or another, it is definitely a health benefit. Relics - Stopwatches

Some people have often wondered where the stopwatch came from originally. Some would venture that the ancient Egyptions made the first stopwatch, and that may very well be true because ancient cultures invented some very advanced pieces of technology. If you don't believe me then you should probably visit one of their pyramids and then try to figure out exactly how they pulled that one off. Since we can't go back and ask them to show us their stopwatch we would have to say that one of the earliest examples of the stopwatch was created by Leon Breitling in 1884.

These watches were very expensive seeing as how they were originally made for use in aviation. Though they were used for that, people began to buy and wear them as more of a status symbol than anything else. These original models were created long before anyone had even heard of electronics, and as such they were mechanical, most using a winding mechanism.

Most of these stopwatches had a large face and although that would be strange to wear like a regular watch, it was done anyway. The awkwardness didn't bother people since anything that cost a lot of money was considered to be good and used as a status symbol.

One stopwatch has been a famous icon for more than half a century. On the popular and long running TV show, 60 Minutes, people have gotten used to the stopwatch that is always present in the corner of the screen. Practically nobody wondered if there was CGI at that point in time, but it is a fact that this was a real stopwatch.

Even though the CGI stopwatch is not needed, it still wasn't thrown out like a piece of garbage. That very stopwatch that was a part of 60 Minutes for so many years now is actually on display at the Smithsonian, just like other famous TV icons like the bathrobe from Hawkeye Pierce. It is surprising for many that a little thing like a stopwatch has had such a big role in a popular TV show.

Stopwatches are still basically the same, even though they have advanced over time. They now keep track of laps, can be used to measure time for lab experiments and many other things, as well as keeping track of time in several different countries. This is a big difference to the functions of the original stopwatch that was invented, but it is still important to keep in mind the humble roots.

Every invention that we have today took a long hard road to get to where it is today, except for maybe the paperclip. When you hold a stopwatch in your hand think about it's history and the role that it has played in our society, because chances are there are a lot more instances than what we have mentioned here in this article.

First, take an exercise ball and sit on it. Roll the ball underneath until your back is resting on it and your thighs are parallel to the ground. Perleche: An Irritation Begging To Be Removed

Perleche is one of the irritating discomforts people usually experience. It is formed in the corners of the mouth. This is a result of a fungal (Candida albicans) or bacterial infection usually caused by open cuts or ulcers. The elderly are the more common victims of this condition. If an older person's dentures do not fit well, folds may form on the sides of the mouth. In these folds, saliva may occupy and thus form the bacteria or fungus.

Mood Disorders - The Difference between Depression and Anxiety

A person with anxiety doesnt necessarily have depression and a person who is depressed doesnt always experience anxiety. However, given the similarities in physiological states of those with anxiety and depression, and also given the similar types of environmental triggers, it is no surprise that a person with anxiety is often depressed as well.

Symptoms of depression include intense feelings of sadness, worthlessness, hopelessness and helplessness for weeks, months or even years.

The morning hours of the day seem to harbor the most intense symptoms, however they can be experienced throughout the day. In addition to the afore mentioned symptoms, depression sufferers may also experience fatigue, insomnia, hypersomnia and feelings of guilt. In most cases, people suffering from depression will withdraw from activities that once gave them pleasure and instead endure feelings of restlessness, irritability and thoughts of death or suicide. Depression can also decrease or increase a person's weight in a very minimal period of time.

Depression is believed to be caused by several factors including a chemical imbalance in the brain. Several neurotransmitters in the brain, such as dopamine and serotonin, are secreted or received by brain nerves and regulate mood and the handling of emotion. Studies have found that those with mood disorders such as depression are either lacking in one or more neurotransmitters or have defective receptors of a neurotransmitter. Either way, an important chemical component in the brain is lacking and a mood disorder is usually the result.

Depression can also be triggered by stressful events and drugs (legal and illegal). A person with a pessimistic personality is also more likely to be depressed.

Anxiety can also cause depression because a person with anxiety tends to be very pessimistic and worries about unrealistic scenarios that are overwhelmingly negative. Sometimes anxiety can make a person lonely or difficult to understand, which may aggravate depression. In addition, feelings of hopelessness about their situation can lead to depression. Being both depressed and anxious increases the likelihood that a person will have suicidal or violent thoughts.

There is a bright side however, both disorders can be treated and are generally treatable with the same methods. Treatment for these disorders can include cognitive behavior therapy or psychotherapy as well as medications. These methods allow the patient to recognize symptoms and deal with them in a positive way as well as learning how to prevent them all together.

Warning! Diet Tea May Not Be Safe

Chinese tea has long been used as a tool for losing weight by dieters. Many people believe that tea (only 3 calories per serving) is helpful for losing weight because of polyphenols which speed up digestion, and the fact that tea has caffeine which helps the drinker burn more calories.

Dieting tea comes in many different names: slimming tea, weight loss tea, fasting tea, and so on. These teas play on consumers desires to just drink this tea and you will magically lose weight. People want to lose weight but only if it is easy. It is just like how the pill industry plays on consumers desires to just swallow this pill and you will suddenly lose weight. The danger with marketing tea in this manner is that tea is a laxative. Laxatives can cause diarrhea, vomiting, cramps, fainting, and even death if consumed in large amounts.

How To Use Heart Rate Monitors

When purchasing a heart rate monitor you must be knowledgeable of the workout level your heart can sustain. You cannot go purchase a heart rate monitor and just start using it for workouts.

You need to be able to calculate your maximum heart rate, also known as MRH, plus the heart rate you wish to work on. To achieve this, a certain formula has to be followed. To start with you need the difference between your age and 220. Once you have that number multiply it by the percentage that would serve as the lower in your exercise range. The next step is to again multiply the difference between your age and 220 with another percentage, this time at the higher end. For your training these two results will be your heart rate for training.

For example, this can be illustrated using a 25 year old person. The difference between 220 and 25 is 195. The number 195 is then multiplied by 65%, and the result would be would be 26.75, or rounded off to 127. If you multiply 195 again, but this time with 80%, then you would arrive at 156. This means that the desired heart rate during a training session must be anywhere from 127 to 156 beats each minute.

In regards to the percentages, not just any random number is chosen. These percentages used are based upon training boundaries. The first range of 50% - 60% is to maintain a healthy heart and is what can be considered good for daily exercises. The second range of 60% - 70% is for aerobics or for fat burning, and the 70% - 80% range is considered necessary for any endurance training. Finally, the 80 - 90% range, also known as the anaerobic threshold zone, is used to greatly improve cardiovascular fitness.

Once these heart rate ranges have been determined, then you can use your heart rate monitor. First the back of the transmitter should be dampened. This way it will snugly fit against the skin where contact is supposed to be made. Then it is adjusted, but without any deep breaths being taken. For women the ideal spot to place a heart rate monitor would be under the bra and under the breasts.

When that is all done, then the heart rate monitor can be started and if necessary, adjusted. It only needs to be adjusted if it is giving strange readings. If the readings are hyper or dead after putting it on, then the device has to be put someplace else and into a better position. Also keep your distance from others since the transmitters of the heart rate monitor often are so sensitive that they pick up other transmitters.

After using the heart rate monitor, proper care must be given to it. Although heart rate monitors are usually water resistant, place them in dry places with breathing rooms. Clean them with warm and soapy water, and then pat them dry with a soft towel. Alcohol should be avoided, and don't forget to replace the batteries when needed.

With the right heart rate calculations, along with proper use and proper care, heart rate monitors will be great companions in healthy workouts. Working out with the right tools and knowledge is the best way to achieve a heart-friendly life.
